Art Within Reach – Art History, Art Education, Art Appreciation

Art Within Reach is a completely unique kids activity in the DC area.  A combination of art history, art appreciation and art education for early childhood audiences.  Our classes center on the work of art. We spend time looking, exploring, thinking and appreciating.  In short, it is fun for the kids and the family!

Each art lesson features  only a few objects, getting to know each one.  We transform your children into little art detectives who  explore works of art from the Smithsonian’s art museums and the National Gallery of Art.  They get the chance to express their opinions and observations.  They participate in problem-solving activities, are introduced to tactile objects, read, draw and play; all in order to promote a stronger  understanding of the work of art.

How can we serve you?

AWR is like a traveling art school specializing in classes for children ages 4-7.  We can also work with any audience to create a unique, age-appropriate experience.

Children’s Museum Tours

You can meet us at a DC museum (locations vary by lesson), have a 45-minute tour and a take-home art activity to do with your children.  These activities are great because they promote continuity from meeting to meeting and they give you and your art detective some quality time to spend together.

Children’s Art Classes

We can turn your school, home school, church, library, community center  into a mini-museum.  AWR’s brings the images to your classroom and gives kids the chance to do an activity right there!  That way, mom and dad get to see what their little art detective learned that day.
