Tips for a Successful Art Class

Art Within Reach Contract
A contract will be provided by Art Within Reach outlining the logistics mentioned on this page.

Room and Technical Set-up
Programs require a lesson space where children can sit in circle time and engage in activities that involve moderate movement. For the art activity, we require enough table space for each child to create their own masterpieces. Your standard classroom should do the trick!

Materials
Art Within Reach will bring the core materials pertaining to the art activity. We will ask the school to provide standard, reusable items such as; scissors, glue, paintbrushes, and crayons. A list of materials to be provided will be outlined prior to the first lesson.

Instructor Student Ratio
For classes of 12 and fewer, Art Within Reach will provide one instructor. For classes of 12 and more Art Within Reach will provide one instructor and one classroom assistant.

Teacher Involvement
Teacher (aides and parents too) involvement is vital to the success of Art Within Reach’s programs. Please be prepared to engage in the program! Art Within Reach will provide teachers with lesson plans and are happy to discuss any concerns or special interests with individual teachers.

Inclement Weather
If DC Public Schools are canceled or delayed the session will be rescheduled.
