Art Within Reach: Not Your Standard Art Class

>Our unique programming for early childhood audiences features art, culture and history.  It provides children the opportunity to explore art from the Smithsonian and beyond, building their visual literacy, analytical skills and creativity.

Program Offerings

• Curricula appropriate for ages 4-8
• Choose from one of our signature programs or construct a program to meet your goals
• Classes offered in the museums or in the classroom
• Art activities

Class Structure

• Classes last from 60-90 minutes and are for groups of 10 or smaller
• Lessons include: hands-on materials, artful and interactive discussions, reading and sketching
• Lessons reinforce curriculum standards

Art Activities

• Age-appropriate art activities
• Classroom experiences also include free-choice art centers
• Classroom experiences may also include an exhibition featuring children’s artwork by simply adding an extra session
• Age-appropriate art activities are given as take-home assignments for the museum experience

Scheduling and Fees

• A six-week course costs $600 for groups of 4-10, plus a material fee of $10 for each student
